A Journey into Colour and Spirit

How Jaipur Inspired the “Jaipur Dreams” Collection

My recent journey to Jaipur, India, sparked a vivid creative shift. The city’s energy—colourful, chaotic, spiritual—breathed new life into my abstract practice. From vibrant markets and rose-hued palaces to intricate block-printed textiles, Jaipur left a lasting impression. It became the inspiration behind my Jaipur Dreams: Traces of Spirit collection.

These works are layered with pigment, acrylics, and gold leaf. Patterns and shapes echo the city’s detailed architecture and decorative traditions. In this collection, I explored the contrast between movement and stillness—between the sensory overload of Jaipur and the calm presence found in its temples and people.

Each painting became a kind of frequency field. Works like Holding Stillness: Held in Light and Spirit in Repetition reflect this balance—charged with colour yet anchored in peace. They’re intuitive, energetic, and deeply personal.

Through Jaipur Dreams, I channelled colour, memory, and rhythm into bold, emotional abstraction. It’s a tribute to place, spirit, and the power of intuitive expression in contemporary Australian art.
